The MCR02 is a freely programmable, rugged, and flexible microchemical reactor. Key features are speed of heating, excellent temperature control of the sample and repeatability of temperature cycles.

It comprises a microwave generator unit working in the 2.45GHz band, delivering up to 50W of microwave power and a dedicated applicator unit to “focus” the microwave power onto the sample inside the applicator. The bore of the applicator directly supports standard test-tube sizes but can be customized to accommodate particular shapes on request.

Processing of stagnant volumes in test-tubes as well as of flow-cells is possible. The microwaves will typically heat the sample. A controlled fan allows the forced cooling of the sample inside the applicator. Together with microwave heating, samples can thus be thermally cycled. An embedded infrared camera provides temperature feedback for the sample.
